Poor, poor Burton
So, on Wednesday I noticed that Burton was looking an awful lot like a Who from Whoville. So I felt the skin between your nose and upper lip and it was swollen and had a hard bump. Well, I decided to just wait a few days and see what happened. Well, the next morning he woke up and it was about twice the size of the day before, so I decided it was time to go to the doctor. The pediatrician looked at it and she said she had never seen anything like it, but she thought it was either a bad tooth causing it or a tumor. Well the word tumor about just sends me through the roof. So, while she was out trying to call Primary Childrens to get us up there for an ultrasound, I am just trying to keep it together and the whole time my sweet Burton is saying "Don't cry Mommy" and giving me hugs and kisses (he is such a little sweetheart!). The doctor comes back in and has decided to send us to the dentist instead because she really thought it was a problem with his tooth. So, we head off to the dentist and they squeezed us in during lunch. They took some x-rays and both dentists agreed that the tooth was dead and needed to be pulled and it was causing infection, which resulted in the swelling. So, we schedule the extraction and go home. Well, the next day he cries for about an hour and a half after waking up and I can't figure out why he is so upset. Well, after his bath, he opened his mouth a little bit and I saw something that looked like food. Well I pull his lip back and see the most disgusting puss and sore I've ever seen. I freaked out and called the dentist saying that his tooth must be taken out today. They tell me he has to be on the medication for at least 24-48 hours or the numbing won't take effect. So, I called another pediatric dentist and they told me the same thing. Well, by the end of the day, his lip was almost completely back to normal because it had just been draining all day (gross I know). So, today is Sunday and my poor little boy has to go get his tooth pulled tomorrow, even though he has been acting fine and now the "sore" looks much better. Obviously we don't want to deal with infections though for the next 5-6 years before his tooth falls out. So, wish me luck, I'm sure he'll do fine and I will be the one freaking out. He is SO dang good for the doctors and dentists that poked and prodded in his mouth, he just would sit there and let them look. Have I mentioned that he is a sweetheart?

Oh I feel so bad for him. He sounds like he has been pretty brave! I hope all goes well tomorrow with him and with you! I am sure glad that it wasn't anything too serious!
